The
Week on the tours:
Weather caused
the third round at the Shell Houston Open to be washed out. The last groups
have a few holes to play and are scheduled to complete both the third
and fourth rounds on Monday. Vijay Singh is currently tied for the lead
with John Huston and Joe Ogilvie. If Singh manages to win it will be the
third week in a row that we have picked the winner in our golf pool, maybe
we have tapped into something.
On the Champion's
tour Hale Irwin became the 9th winner in nine events with a victory at
the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf. He topped Gil Morgan and Gary Koch
by one shot for the win.
France's
Christian Cevaer got his first european tour victory by shooting two eagle
2's for a 69 at the Canarias Open in Spain.

Tip
of the week:
Aim
and Alignment:
Poor alignment
is a common problem that I too had. Sometimes we can hit straight pulls
and pushes that are solid but offline even if we are aligned properly.
So first of all make sure that when you are aligned properly, this is
not happening.
Also the eyes are not that reliable for alignment, especially when we
are set up to the ball. I would suggest that you line up the shot behind
the ball and then find something on the ground about five feet in front
of the ball that is on your line. You can usually find a weed or piece
of dirt or something. Sometimes this is dificult on the course so you
want to practise at the range where you can throw a tee or something as
your intermediate target. By practising this you can "get a feel"
for proper alignment and it will be more automatic. When you set up to
the ball, first align your club to the target, then your feet, and finally
your hips and shoulders. Many people align their club and feet OK but
their shoulders and hips are off. Use a club, or better, have someone
else check your hip and shoulder alignement at setup.
Remember that your feet and club are about three feet away from each other,
and your club and shoulder alignment are actually more important than
your feet. So concentrate mostly on aligning your shoulders and the club.
Then trust your alignment even if it looks strange from your eyes when
you are set up.

*Great new weighted swing trainer that I use. Increase your distance
and improve your tempo. I have gained 20 yards on my drives in three
months after an injury took those yards off a few years ago.

There
is only one perfect swing on earth, Iron Byron. This equipment testing
machine is perfectly on plane everytime and hits the ball the same
way every time. Though we can never be perfect, Paul Wilson has
developed a beautifully illustrated book that will clearly and simply
show you how to swing as close to Iron Byron as is humanly possible.
Paul has been on the Golf Channel and major magazines and has a
way of communicating the golf swing like noone else. He will show
you how to do three things right that will make more consistent
than you could imagine. I highly recommend this book, it is a great
value.
