Week on the tours:
Davis
Love III let the world know that he is ready for the PGA Championship
by dominating a star studded leader board at The International in
Colorado. Always my favorite tournament, there was little drama
this year, though everyone was playing aggressively as usual. Vijay
Singh, Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson and Retief Goosen also looked good
going into the final major of the year where Tiger waits to make
sure he does not get shut out of the majors this year.
The
PGA Championship is wide open this year with so many veteran major
winners playing well. This tournament will probably determine player
of the year which is up for grabs by many players for the first
time in a few years. Don't forget to pick your favorites at the
top of the page to win.
Over
in Europe Annika Sorenstam was beaten by Sophie Gustafson. Sorenstam
finished third at the HP Open where she was defending. On the LPGA
tour, Hee-Won Han edged Wendy Ward in a playoff.
Colin
Montgomerie also had a good showing in Europe finishing second with
21 under par. Could he be a contender for the PGA?

Quote/Joke
of the week:

found out that all the important lessons of life are contained in
the three rules for achieving a perfect golf swing: 1. Keep your
head down; 2. Follow through; 3. Be born with money." - P.J.

Course
Management:
This week at the PGA Championship, the winner will undoubtedly have
done a great job of course management. The key to course management
is to get the ball in the proper places to score well on a golf
course. For many amateurs this means trying to eliminate getting
in trouble. For instance taking an iron off the tee to avoid a penalty
in the water is good course management. You have probably heard
that it is not your good shots that determine your score, but rather
the quality of your bad shots. Good course management is playing
the percentages and realizing what may happen if you don't hit the
shot you want. Determine how many times out of ten you would make
the shot you want to play. Then make a decision about if you don't
hit that shot where will you end up. My advice is if you can't successfully
make a shot 70% of the time, consider something else, or at least
make sure that you will not be leaving yourself with an impossible
next shot.
Most of us do not play at Augusta or in the U.S. Open where you
can be in impossible spots, but you still want to leave yourself
in a position where you will not be penalized too severely. This
does not mean playing with no confidence. Rather it is playing percentages
and minimizing penalties which will lower your scores.
For more on course management get the LowerScoreGolf
Manual and see your scores plummet within weeks.
Equipment:
Four Ball Putter at a price you won't believe
Synchron Hot Forged Irons, affordable tour clubs.
Fit and feel are the most important aspects when looking for golf
clubs. Technology can help but not if the clubs do not suit you
or your swing. At Pine Meadow Golf you can get custom fit online
with their custom fit wizard.
Don't
necessarily get caught up in thinking you must have name brand clubs.
Good quality clones are often made in the same factories with the
same materials, can be customized, and are considerably less expensive.
At Pine Meadow Golf you can get drivers that only have different
printing on them, for $49-$99, steel and titanium. You probably
are using a clone computer, which is the same kind of thing. For
a good overview of the differences and the best deals on factory-direct
golf clubs go to Pine
Meadow Golf.
I
use a driver from PineMeadow and I could use any equipment I want.
Buy a club from them, try it out and if you don't find that it is
as good as any name brand club send it back. They don't get many
returns, and they offer great service to match the low prices.
Testimonial:
"The
service I received after buying the manual was unexpected. Sean
was there to answer all my questions at the drop of an email. My
handicap went from a 14 to an 8 in three months by learning how
to play the golf course instead of being so focussed on how I was
hitting the ball. It is amazing how much my scores can get lower
even though I hit the ball the ball the same as ever."

Have Arthritis or Joint Pain?
Don't
settle for the dangerous side effects of COX-2 inhibitors and NSAIDs.
They only treat the pain and do nothing to fight the Arthritis itself.
If you or your pet has arthritis, I highly recommend Syn-Flex. The
fast-acting high quality liquid formula of Syn-Flex eases your pain,
rebuilds your damaged cartilage, protects your joints, and increases
mobility. Click
here to learn more and get relief from pain. I was unable to
work out or play golf without debilitating pain in my shoulders,
back, and hips, until Syn-Flex came along. I think it is the best
glucosamine/condroitin product on the market.
