Woody Austin
birdied the first playoff hole to edge Tim Herron at the Buick Championship.
The ten under score marks another tournament with a winning score of 10-under
or less. I don't have stats, but it seems to me that there have 10-under
or less winning scores this season than any other I can remember.
The European
team finalized it's Ryder Cup team this weekend with captain Bernhard
Langer picking his two wildcards. He chose experience and youth with Colin
Montgomerie and Luke Donald. They will join Miguel Angel Jimenez, Sergio
Garcia, Lee Westwood, Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke, Ian Poulter,
Paul Casey, David Howell and Paul McGinley.
Craig Stadler
won on the Champion's Tour. This week the Champion's Tour is at Pebble
Beach for an inaugural event. Miguel Angel Jimenez won on the European
Tour. Lorena Ochoa won on the LPGA Tour with a final round 65.

With
the end of the golf season approaching, one of the things you
need to condider is how to get in "golf shape" through
the winter. Even if you play all year, golf specific fitness is
more important than you might think. The great players on tour
spend a great deal of time on fitness, but just working out is
not enough. Golf uses very specific moves and muscles, and requires
a specific type of fitness.
There
is a site on the internet that is the only truly golf specific
fitness site there is. Right down to how to lift weights in the
proper golf position, to nutrition for golf, this site covers
it all. If you are serious about golf, you need to be serious
about golf fitness and nutrition. You will be amazed the difference
it can make.

expert guidance and programs in golf fitness go to Golf trainer.com.
The pros do.
This program will help you lower your scores and get more distance.

Tip
of the week:
Tips
for Chipping:
Chipping
is not as complicated as so many make it. For most people the challenge
is making sure that they catch the ball clean without hitting the ground
first. Too many people flip their wrists trying to get the ball off the
ground only to "chunk it".
The
biggest key to chipping effectively is to keep your hands ahead of the
club head, and keep them "firm" (do not break your wrists).
You want to hit down on the back of the ball "popping" it forward.
Putting the ball back in your stance can help ensure that you hit the
ball first.
If
you need to get the ball in the air to clear some hazard, use the loft
of the club by hitting it the same way and letting the loft of the club
get the ball in the air. The more you try to lift the ball with your hands
the more likely you are to blade, or chunk it.
Judge
the distance of your chips by the length of your backswing and the club
you use. Remember to keep your weight slightly more on your front foot
to help ensure a downward swing.
