The
Week on the tours:
A tearful
John Daly hung on for a playoff victory at the Buick Invitational this
week. He struggled through a three under round as some big names made
early runs to claim his first victory since the 1995 British Open. Phil
Mickelson and Tiger Woods charged early but the difficult back nine at
the future US Open course at Torrey Pines slowed them down. Daly hit a
fantastic long bunker shot on the first playoff hole to about 6 inches,
while Chris Riley and Luke Donald missed relatively short putts. The crowd
was thoroughly behind Daly's victory.
Craig Stadler's
5 under 67 on Saturday in 30 mph winds led him to a Sunday victory. He
said the difficult week at Pebble Beach last week helped him in the difficult
conditions.

Tip
of the week:
Increasing
Distance:
After
going to the section on equipment
and looking at your club and ball characteristics, the next thing to do
is work on your flexibility. The fitness
section can give you great advice on how to do this.
The
key to distance is in the resistance you can generate between your hips
and shoulders. Larger shoulder to smaller hip turn will generate more
distance. A simple way to start this is by making sure your left arm (right
arm for lefties) stays straight on the way back. If your arm breaks you
lose the coil effect. Only go back as far as you can with keeping the
arm straight and work on your flexibility to get a bigger shoulder turn.
Casting
the club from the top can reduce distance amoung other things. Make sure
you come slowly from the top and keep your wrist angle as long as possible,
so you generate your speed at the bottom of the swing. I see too many
people taking the club back really slow and then whipping it down from
the top losing all their momentum before the get to the ball. Taking it
back long is more important than slow. The irony of the golf swing is
that you will hit it farther the slower you think you are swinging.

- The best
golf equipment does not have to break the bank. I use clone golf clubs
from Pinemeadow
Golf, and I have used many name brands. Custom clubs that
fit your game is the way to go.
- The best
site I have seen for golf fitness is here,
for having the most golf specific programs for all season. There are
also great pre-game stretching routines. Too many people neglect the
stretching and fitness components of golf and it can really affect your
scores. Use every advantage you can, go to Golf
Fitness now.

*Great new weighted swing trainer that I use.

This revolutionary
program will train your mind to better golf in minutes! World Series

You
don't need my review, take a look below. I heartily agree.
"Fran
has helped me since I was 18 years old. He will help you, too. Mental
skills training is too important for golfers to overlook."
- Justin Leonard, 1997 British Open Champion
"My career turned around as soon as I started working with
Fran. GolfMind training continues to help me in every tournament
I play." - Vicki Goetze-Ackerman, 2-time US Amateur Champion,
PGA tour player.
"I
hired Dr. Fran Pirozzolo to be the first sports psychologist in
New York Yankee history and, without him, we would not have won
our first World Championship in two decades (1996). He's the best
mental skill coach in the world." - Bob Watson, General
Manager, New York Yankees, 1996-1998, General Manager, 2000 Olympic
baseball team.
"I
have been blessed to have Fran as a friend and advisor since 1985.
These exercises will help your game." - Bernhard Langer,
2-time Masters Champion
Try
