The Week on the tours:

Mike Weir became the first player of 2004 to defend a title with a very exciting win at the Nissan Open at Riviera Golf Club. With a five stroke lead on the front nine, Weir watched Shigeki Maruyama knock down pins with long irons to tie Weir with a couple holes to go. Heavy rain seemed to affect Maruyama and when he put his drive in the rough on the difficult 18th it looked like Weir had it. However, Weir had to make a great up and down for par to capture his first victory of the year after a couple of top tens. It also marked the first time Weir has won with a 54 hole lead. Tiger edged his way into the top ten with one of the best rounds of the tournament. Unfortunately he started the day 14 shots behind. John Daly played well for the second week in a row finishing solo fourth.

Quote/Joke of the week:

"A duffer fell into a water hazard and screamed, "Help, I'm drowning." "Don't worry. You'll never drown," yelled his partner, "You can't keep your head down." - Bruce Lansky

Tip of the week:

Keep Your Arms Close to Your Body

Watch any tour pro and one thing you will always see is that their arms are close to their body throughout their swing. This is a critical factor in keeping the club on plane and ensuring a slice proof path. A simple way to attach your upper arms to your body is with a belt. Have someone fasten the belt around your upper arms and chest at about the nipple line. Then hit balls with the belt fastened. You will probably find this very uncomfortable, but watch the flight of ball. The idea is to get a better shoulder turn and have your arms and body working together as a unit. It is impossible to come over the top and will give you the feel for a proper swing without flying arms. Eventually you will get the "feel" for this and you will notice that your shots will be much more consistent, especially with the woods and long irons.

Product Review:

  iconicon Integra Blades
only $199.20

Have you always wanted to try hitting blade irons but didn't want to spend a fortune just in case you can't hit them well? No need to wait any longer. These blades are sweet, and if you don't hit them well at first, you won't be out hundreds of dollars. There is nothing like the look and feel of a blade iron, they make you feel like you are really golfing. These blades are about the most forgiving I have tried (as forgiving as a blade can be).

These clubs are forged with a beautiful satin finish, so the glare is not bad in the sun. Have a look. If you want blades but don't want to break, these are what you are looking for.

Rating: 4 out of 5
