The Week on the tours:

Craig Perry hit one of the best shots in golf history on one of the most feared holes in a playoff to win the Ford Championship at Doral. Just minutes before, Scott Verplank hit an amazing fairway bunker shot on the 17th hole to tie Perry, but Perry was not to be outdone when he holed a miraculous 6 iron iron second shot for eagle from 178 yards on the first playoff hole. This 18th hole is one of the most feared finishing holes in golf. Ironically Perry almost slept through his Thursday tee time, only being woke up by his brother 15 minutes before he was to tee off.

Phil Mickelson and David Toms were in contention, but neither could mount a charge on Sunday.

Tiger Woods and Ernie Els were playing this week in Dubai on the European Tour, but it was Tiger's good friend Mark O'Meara who took center stage. O'Meara won for the first time in almost 6 years. Els finished 4 behind with a Sunday 65, and Woods five behind.

On the Champion's Tour, Ed Fiori was one of only two golfers in the entire field to break 70. This allowed him to roar from behind and defeat the thrid round leader Graham marsh in a playoff.

Next week the LPGA tour finally kicks off in Arizona.

Tip of the week:

Warming up on the range before a round:

Go to a tour event and just about player you watch on the range will be doing pretty much the same routine.

Start with a sand wedge and pick a target about 60-80 yards away and start by hitting leisurely shots to that target. Work on making easy contact and having a nice relaxed tempo. Hit as many of these as it takes to get into a nice groove.

Then start working your way up. You do not have to use every club as you work your way up, but don't go straight to the driver. Take your time between shots, and stay focussed on good tempo, not results.

Ensure that your last shots are with the club you will be hitting off the first tee. Then go finish off with some chipping and putting to get a feel for distance on your chips, and the speed of the putts. Do not get caught up in making putts and chips at this point, just concentrate on feel.

Product Review:

DoubleWall Titanium Driver and Fairway Woods

PineMeadow Golf has departed from totally clone golf clubs. They have developed a patented technology that is going to change drivers. This club looks and feels great.

Independent lab tests prove the DoubleWall has the biggest sweet spot in golf. DoubleWall technology abandons the "trampoline effect" technology used by other golf club manufacturers. Instead, DoubleWall achieves performance by building a "solid concrete floor" from which the super ball bounces. This is a much more stable foundation and creates greater ball velocity off the entire striking face of the golf club.
DoubleWall's Patented Design consists of a titanium inner wall that creates a Power Chamber - improving performance throughout the entire club head - particularly on off-center hits.
Pinemeadow combines this unique head design with a wide selection of the highest end custom shafts and grips - all for one price - $299.00. In additions, stainless steel #3 and #5 fairway woods are available for $199.00.

Rating: 5 out of 5 -It really does what it says!
